| | | | | I was born a designer. As a kid, I loved helping my parents choose paint colors, dishes, and furniture for our home. I learned how to paint a room and hang wallpaper when I was 15. I spent hours with my friend’s parents, discussing their living rooms, rearranging their furniture and hanging wallpaper for them. In 1973 I began work for Butwinick Bros. Furniture in downtown St. Paul. My job was perfect for me! I could arrange the entire show floor and help people select furnishings for their homes.
During a trip to Nassau, Bahamas in 1985 I met a very gracious woman in the interior design world, Maxine Greenberg. We sat on the beach and talked for hours about interior design, fabrics, draperies and artwork. Maxine told me any designer worth her salt spent a few years at Dayton’s Design Studio.
In 1988 I joined the Dayton’s Furniture and Design Studio. Maxine was right, there were fabulous designers there and I was thrilled to become of them. Many changes took place over the years, as we first became Marshall Fields and then Macys. I felt the time had come for a change and after 20 years, I chose to resign and open my own business. Butwinick Interiors was founded in July 2007.
Many of my wonderful clients have chosen to continue working with me and many have referred friends and family members. I continue to love my work as a professional interior designer.
